#36 - Disturbance

God. I'm really not cut out for this whole comic thing.
This comic doesn't even make sense unless you pretend the Octopi are people.

START PRETENDING (AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, PRETEND THIS WASN'T COMPLETELY CRAP)

  11. The plural for Octopus is "Octopuses" not Octopi, as "Octopus" is not latin.

    1. Actually, anon, they're both correct, according to the Oxford dictionary.

    2. (Different Anon) This is yet another case of a definition being amended due to widespread incorrect use. Octopodes is also correct.

    3. Octopodes is the most correct, being the original plural. Octopuses is acceptable, as we're speaking English and that is how English pluralizes. Octopi is never okay. Never. Except for common usage making it seem like it is. But it's not.

    5. And octopoda is also a used plural, but specifically when talking about species of octopuses.

    6. Octopda is also a used plural, but usually when talking about species of octopuses.

Also Oxford no longer recognizes "octopi": http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/octopus

  19. I'm mentally retarded.................. I still don't get it after all those explanations. Is the only joke the fact that there is a band on his wrist?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Unfortunately yes, the joke was meant to be "Wristband", it is not one of prouder moments and I plan to "accidentally" destroy this page one day.

  27. I guess he's talking to his ulnar nerve, which in German is often called "Musikantenknochen" which translates into something like "musicians bone".
We need to pretend Octopi/Octopusses/Octopodes are human because otherwise this guy wouldn't have one of those.
... or I am wrong and the joke is much simpler. oO

    ReplyDelete
  28. Actually octopuses, octopi, and octopodes are all correct much like buffalo, buffaloes, and bison if it's the American variety
